Wiltrudis, the wife of a duke of Bavaria, Germany, was known for her deep piety and her manual skills. After her husband’s death (c. 947), she entered a convent, manifesting exceptional devotion as a religious. She later founded and became abbess of the Benedictine convent of Bergen, near Neuburg.
